This year, we are honored to welcome our 2025 Synod Assembly keynote speaker, Venice Williams.
Venice Williams is the Executive Director of Alice’s Garden and its visionary leader. She has been doing just that in Milwaukee for the past thirty-two years.
SYNOD ASSEMBLY Offering Designation
Supporting Migrants and Church Leaders through AMMPARO and the Bishop’s Resource Fund
Learn more about the assembly offering through the FAQ explanations below:
-
AMMPARO (Accompanying Migrants with Protection, Advocacy, Representation, and Opportunities) is the ELCA’s initiative to support migrant families, particularly those from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala. Inspired by Psalm 46:1, AMMPARO aims to ensure the safety, rights, and well-being of migrant children and families who are fleeing violence, poverty, and environmental crises.
-
AMMPARO works to:
Uphold the human rights and safety of migrant children and families.
Address the root causes of migration globally and advocate for just treatment of migrants in transit.
Promote humane migration policies both within the U.S. and internationally.
Engage the church and its partners in responding to the complexities of migration.
-
This year, 50% of the Synod Assembly offering will be directed to AMMPARO to support its work. By contributing, you help provide protection, advocacy, and opportunities for vulnerable migrant families, particularly those affected by crises in Central America.
-
To ensure the safety and fundamental rights of migrant families.
To address the root causes of migration and advocate for just treatment of migrants.
To engage the entire church community in supporting migrant families and promoting human dignity.
-
The remaining 50% of the Synod Assembly offering will support the Bishop’s Resource Fund, which provides essential resources to leaders within the synod. This fund supports rostered ministers, lay leaders, and congregations in areas like leadership development, crisis support, and innovation in ministry.
-
The fund helps:
Provide timely support to leaders facing personal or professional challenges.
Offer leadership development opportunities like continuing education, workshops, and retreats.
Support new ministries, conflict transformation, and congregational transitions.
-
Your contribution to the Synod Assembly offering helps make a tangible difference in the lives of migrant families through AMMPARO, as well as empowers church leaders by supporting the Bishop’s Resource Fund. Together, we strengthen the church’s mission and ministry.
