Advocacy Alert: Afghan Adjustment Act

Your chance to save lives with just a few clicks and key strokes!

Starting last November Dave and Jill Beverlin began volunteering in their community with an entity called World Relief of the Fox Valley. They, like many Good Neighbor teams, found so much more than a volunteer opportunity. They built real friendships and now their work of welcome also includes advocacy. Dave, Jill, and Azim's story make the call to action and advocacy even more urgent and real.

Jill writes, “Through this work we have had the privilege of accompanying several newly arrived individuals as they navigate the maze of resettling in a new culture. Truly this has been sacred and wonderful work - and we have made amazing new friends along the way!!!

We are so proud of our new friends and respect the courage it took to flee the mortal danger they were in. We are amazed at how quickly they have adjusted to our culture and the vibrant ways they are contributing to our communities! And we fear for them as their status here is not yet secure - without specific legislation passing, they are in danger of being sent back to the treacherous and untenable situations they were fleeing from.

Please help us keep them safe. Read more below and contact your congress people encouraging them to vote YES for the Afghan Adjustment Act today!

These individuals helped our soldiers when they were in danger on their soil. It is our turn to help them.”

The Afghan Adjustment Act is being reintroduced to congress. More on this can be found here: [bicameral, bipartisan introduction of the Afghan Adjustment Act]
