Synod Staff Portfolio and Title Changes
Dear siblings in Christ and friends of the East Central Synod of Wisconsin,
This summer our collective staff discernment led to a few key staff positions refocusing the work of their portfolios in light of the needs of the church. While meeting during our annual retreat, the Synod Council affirmed these changes and I’m excited to share them with you. In many ways these shifts honor the work that was already being done.
Jeanne Jerks has been promoted to Associate to the Bishop, Director for Administration and Operations providing administrative leadership, continuity and support for key operations of synod ministry.
You may notice event planning is no longer included in Jeanne’s portfolio. This function of synod ministry will be shifting to a new synod staff position: Synod Event Coordinator. We are excited that interviews are underway to bring in a new member to the synod staff team.
Pastor Jenn Pockat’s title has changed to Associate to the Bishop, Director for Relationships and Resources. The focus of this work is to nurture relationships of support for congregations and rostered ministers of the synod, ensuring that leaders are supported and equipped with resources needed for every-day ministry in congregations.
Over the past months, the synod staff has been working to strengthen workflow and recenter their focus for ministry. Together, the staff found this purpose statement: To spark surprising and liberating change so that all people know the fullness of authentic relationships because of Christ. As they live out this “why” behind their work, their collective values include: relationship, hospitality, safe-keeping, and love.
We hope you experience these values as the synod staff works with you during tender moments in your ministry. Whether leaping toward a new and creative endeavor in ministry or seeking support in seasons of discernment or transition, synod ministry is a ministry of accompaniment. As synod leaders, we are always seeking to strengthen our support for you and are grateful for your prayers and support, too. Thank you for holding synod staff in your prayers as they endeavor to faithfully serve the church on behalf of all of us.
