Invitation to Share a Servant Story

The baptismal promise highlighted in this year’s synod assembly theme is “to serve all people following the example of Jesus.” Looking around our synod - so much service is happening in beautiful, creative, challenging, and organic ways. Following the example of Jesus, churches and individuals feel called to serve…

  • …through hunger ministry and sustainable housing initiatives

  • ..by supporting vulnerable populations: disabled persons, neurodiverse siblings, immigrants, the elderly, veterans, and unhoused persons

  • …by advocating for just laws and practicing holy inclusion

  • …by combating the epidemic of loneliness

Instead of one unified service project, we’re focusing on sharing impact stories that can inspire and invite us into deeper service ministry for our neighbors.

The goal is to feature up to six servant stories during synod assembly. Show and tell us what servant ministry looks like in your congregation or ministry. Share your “why” for the ministry. Point out ways that others can be involved. Inspire siblings by sharing outcomes and impact.

Here’s how to submit your story for assembly.

  1. Create a video up to 2 minutes long that features one way your congregation or ministry is serving. Do your best to focus on telling one ministry story: hunger, housing, advocacy, community building, etc…

  2. Submit a video by emailing a link or file to ecsw@ecsw.org by May 21, 2025.

  3. If we receive a high volume of stories, submissions will be reviewed to show an array of stories. Those not shared at an assembly will be shared via ecsw.org and the Wave.
